Kath had always said that she didn't ever want to retire, and she did keep working as long as she possible could. She loved her job and she really enjoyed the company of everyone who worked at the school. Most of all she enjoyed creating a happy and positive environment in the school so that the greatest number of children could get the best possible start in life. She also enjoyed being able to provide a happy place of work where staff training and development was encouraged at every opportunity. However, when she had almost reached the age of seventy she began to think that perhaps she should move over and let younger heads take over the challenge of managing the school. She stayed on as a consultant for a time, but she didn't enjoy it so much when she was no longer the Head. She was finally persuaded to retire fully and to concentrate on looking after the family and have more time to spend with her beloved Grandchildren. Sadly she did not have as long as we would all have loved her to have. We are now left with the wonderful memories of her and very many people have a better life for her having been part of her their lives.
